Great tyres
These tyres have been the best wearing I have had on the three GC I have owned since 2011 the worst were Khumo. The Continentals have worn evenly have never had a wheel alignment since new, but have rotated them every 10000Ks, great tyres.

Short life - Baffled! Noisy! 295/40 R21 Profile (update)
Good tyres when NEW as per specs! Conclusion: sticky tyres = short life, especially in Australia roads and weather conditions especially summer BUT to only lasted 30,000km?! Baffled! I don t drive hard on my 21 and the Mercedes GL350 diesel does NOT let you drive hard around corners although when needed, it is capable, so too with accelerating. Tyres were rotated and aligned annually. Yes 80% city driving thus may be contributing to the excessive work (stress) on the tyres @ 2.6ton + 4 passengers. But less than 30,000km?! I had Pirelli on previous car and that too did not last long and that had 50/50 city and country driving and vehicle 1/2 the side and weight?! My other MB Estate is also fitted with Continental and that too, rear set of tyres, @ 25,000km required replacement (front sets are perfect still). With that car, replaced with Michelin 3rd generation A/S 3 (after great review fitted against vehicles of similar specs) and so far, held it s tread! Perhaps MB needs to source something else more appropriate for GL series (cf ML series). Not faulting Continental but questioning the profile matching to the type of vehicle. Going to try Pirelli PZero as it is on par to the Continental specs and price. So, will let you know in 30,000km (more or less ie 2yrs hence). Very few choices with 295/40 R21! :-( Update 2016 after another 30,000km (not quite 2yrs hence) on new sets: Stayed with the same sets profile tyres (as they are MO specific) and they are holding out as expected with 1/2 legal depth tread left! Conclusion: 1) The original set of tyres came with the demo SUV @ 5,000km must had been abused. 2) The new sets were aligned under the original VIN fitout (ie AMG) compared to what was originally aligned (very different). So this profile tyres DO live up to the specs as MO . Remember, 21 with 2.6ton curb - 1) you do need a soft and sticky tyres summer AND wet; and 2) with such a large/wide profile, the lower the depth tread the nosier the tyre will become vs other smaller profiles they don t get as nosy early.

Excellent sports tyre for our SUV
I m surprised by some of the reviews here. This is a performance style tyre for SUV and similar vehicles. If your vehicle is performance oriented this is an excellent tyre choice. It s road biased towards dry weather grip/road holding. That means compromising off road abilities buts it s fine for dirt roads. Given its a grippy tyre with softer compound it means you get increased road grip but sacrifice some wear and longevity. As such this tyre will wear more quickly than a hard compound, deep threaded off road biased tyre. If your after a road tyre that doesn t understeer or squeal with tons of Tarmac grip this is the tyre for you. If your after a long wearing off road tyre then buy something else. I wouldn t suggest fitting these to a proper 4wd that does track or bush work.

So bloody disappointed!
These tyres are not at all durable. I bought a brand new Land Rover Discovery 4 & they came with it. The car is not even 2 years old & the right rear tyre has chipped on the edge already. I have to now spend $600 to get this 1 tyre or $2500 to get 5. This is not expected when you buy a car this expensive. Unbelievable!!!!

Great tyre.
Original tyres on Freelander2 front scrubbed out at 20000 klms due to dodgy wheel alignment. Just replaced all tyres and the rear originals had 70000 klms. Great handling tyre, good in the wet, quiet and pretty good off road. Price wise they compare with most other decent brand tyre.

Great on xc90
Oem tyre has lasted 60000 km on Volvo XC90 (still going). Quiet and grippy. They do good job on the predominantly front wheel drive 2.2t xc90. Rotated best wheels to front every 15000km and run at 35 to 38 psi. We probably could get another 10k if we had an aligment done last service. 420 treadwear rating and AA grip is hard to match. not used off road.

Disappointed
I expected a whole lot more from a brand that is used on luxury cars. In fact, I got less life from these than the Bridgestone OEMs! It should be noted that these were fitted to the wife s 2008 Mazda CX-7 (Luxury, AWD), and even by the service rep at our most recent service, the CX-7s are very heavy on tyres . He said the anticipated life on a CX-7 is 25-30,000km. I managed to squeeze close to 35,000 out of the OEMs, but the Contis lasted barely 20,000. We drive on-road all the time, don t throw the car around corners (given we have two kids under 4), and the tyres are rotated and balanced regularly. When the tyres were new, I was certainly pleased with the road noise levels and grip / handling, but as Ian S said, overall you don t get what you pay for. Thankfully I got an excellent price at the time, otherwise I d be even more critical! The new tyres are Cooper CTS Touring, we ll see how they last.

Terrible and expensive tyre
I am a serial Range Rover owner and have tried most major brands in over 30 years. When my new 08 TTDV8 Vogue arrived it had Conti UHPs. Initially I though good grip, quiet and handled gravel and bitumen well. One day I went to cross a hilly wet grassy paddock and no amount of technology could replace good old fashioned wheelspin but the RR s ABS just over-rode any right foot. The tyres were useless. I ended up pulling myself out with a 700 cc diesel Gator! I don t throw this car around corners but do get moving. Well literally the shoulders peeled off in chunks. Looked like a rat had chewer the shoulders off. Despite constantly checking pressures and repeated trips back to the dealer for balance and alignment, literally these tyres were buggered by 14000 klms. What do you expect? It s a heavy car! they said. This is my 5th RR and I don t thrash them and managed and squeezed just 20000 out of them by moving the worst ones to the opposite corners. I went back to the old faithful Pirelli Scorpion Zeros which offer a similar quiet ride and a little better off road at half the price. I ve done 8000 already and would guesstimate they will get me closer to 40000. DO not buy those Conti UHPs. They are without doubt the worst wearing tyres I have ever had in 31 years diverse motoring.
