Early days, but so good so far!
These tyres feel and look tough, but maintain a sporty look to them. For A/T LT tyres, they sure are quiet! I can't fault them at all so far, and I don't expect that to change.

Also ensure tyres are at correct pressure. Would not purchase again as wet weather traction is the reason I purchased them in the first place.Read moreSimilar opinion? Write a review!

This was a set of four bought to replace the original factory fitted Bridgestones.
These have a good reputation and it has been proven to be a good buy.
Hard to go past a Pirelli
Have been purchasing these Pirelli tyres for years and they never let me down. Always good drivability. Great wear, grip and steering combination, on and off road. Don't think I could find a better tyre so I continue to purchase these always

For all of you who compare tyres based on mileage, think again. The true value of tyres is the safety - the situations it can get you out of. These Pirelli s can reduce the stopping distance from 100km/h by as much as 4 metres when compared to the likes of Coopers and Mickey T s. They also corner better and are significantly quieter. So unless you never drive on a bitumen public road, these are by far the safest tyre on the market right now. If you then take them off road, they perform in the top 3 of all disciplines (gravel, sand, mud, clay, etc), and actually win a couple as well. So unless you have the ability to fit a different set of tyres when your journey encounters sand, then a different set when you come across some mud, then a different set when you come across some gravel, then surely the best all round tyre makes the most sense. The argument about mileage is borderline ridiculous, as your wear will depend on so many variables of vehicle type, driving style, driving surfaces (local bitumen roads can all by quite different) town or country, city, tyre maintenance, ambient temperatures, etc. That being said, we all need some form of comparison so you can use the Treadwear Rating if the tyre is marketed in the USA. This is as close to a standard wear test you will get, so it can show which tyre may last longer. Cooper AT claim up to 90k, whereas the Scorpion ATR claims up to 70k. Shop around to get the best prices, then divide that by the claimed mileage. You will then see what the tyre costs per kilometre. I did this to work out that the Cooper s would have saved me about 1 cent per kilometre (and the Cooper warranty is not worth the paper it is written on) - so between hearing several reports of Cooper s failing (mostly sidewall or bead) and the far superior all-round performance of the Pirelli s - that was an easy 1 cent per kilometre to spend. They are super quiet, super sticky, and great off road.Read more

So far we have 35000kms on these and they are less than half worn with even wear. All tyres are showing between 6.4 and 6.8mm tread depth left. So to pay more but get the extra wear makes them the same price as el cheapo's and then the higher performance and wet grip is like a free bonus. best regards peteRead more

When we spoke to Pirelli their rep was arrogant and blamed the wheel allignment. I had it checked and it was so close to perfect it wasn't funny. After heaps of back and forth Pirelli have now agreed that something isn't right so they are going to help me out with the next set! Finally got an honest opinion from a tyre shop that confirmed what I was looking for - this is a good highway driving tyre that will handle off road work (within reason). Last thing anyone needs is to spend lots of $$$ on a noisy road tyre only to use it on a gravel car park when visiting wineries. Big difference in the way the car drives - very smooth and fantastic grip on poor quality sealed roads. These have handled wet gravel tracks with aplomb. So far so good!Read more

They fit the bill and handle dirt roads very well. However I've experienced some alarming instances of understeer on bitumen both in the wet and dry, thankfully only at low speeds. I've done maybe 20,000 on them so far and they're wearing very well so will probably get another 50,000 + out of them, which is a hassle as the CX-5 doesn't do as many dirt kms as it use to as I now have a 4wd ute. All in all they're okay, but I hate having that lack of confidence in them due to some occasional understeer.Read more

My husband spent time googling reviews and enquiring about good tyres. He chose the Pirelli Scorpion and I can't believe the difference when I drive the car. The steering is now firm and not wafty - the vehicle sits on the road so much better on old bitumen which before used to make the car wander around. The old tyres used to give a floaty ride which made those susceptible, car sick when sitting in the back. The ride may be a little rougher and possibly a fraction noisier than the Wrangler but not enough to worry me at all. I feel safer both driving it and when I'm a passenger. We are yet to see how they go with punctures after driving off road.Read more

First thing we noticed after running Yoko's was just how much quieter these Pirelli's are. On our first outing my wife asked 'what have you done to the truck, it is so quiet!' Their ride is good, handling excellent and at 29,000 clicks including towing an off-road caravan, their wear factor is very good and very even.If I had to be critical, I think the Yoko's possibly brake a little better and perhaps (the Pirelli's) are not as tough (only recently had a two holes' puncture with two large coach screws deflating the tyre beyond repair) as the Yoko's, but that's about it. As with the Yoko's, these Pirelli's are very positive in the wet. We don't do the hard 4WDriving we used to, so with the quieter tyre, better and softer ride and excellent handling, these tyres suit our purposes.Alan.Read more

The upsize corrects the speedo reading error, according to my GPS. The first set of Pirellis lasted 65,000km on 95% sealed and 5% stoney dirt roads. The softer Bridgestones would have been cut to hell on the dirt roads outside Alice Springs. These tyres are surprising good off road considering their low noise tread pattern. I run them at 35 PSI unloaded and 40 PSI fully loaded. Excellent on dry roads. You have to take it easy on wet bitumen as they don't like cornering hard in the wet. Braking and take off is fine dry or wet. Overall a very good performance considering the price I paid.Read more

After always having Michelin I was not convinced at the time of purchase. These tyres are awesome. 60000km later and they don't even look worn. On road capability is better than some road tyres. Stick like..... in the wet. Gravel/dirt roads, eats them up, and the tyres don't get chips from the gravel.Every weekend I have pulled a small boat and some of the boat ramps are just mud on rocks. The scorpions somehow found traction in that and always got me out with ease.Getting a new ute today. Today it get's new shoes-that's right scorpions.Read more

I managed to eek nearly 50,000 kms out of them by regular rotation and wheel alignments, but they were probably illegal by the time I replaced them. Having had the Pirelli ATR s before on a previous Disco I decided to go with them again, and wow, they have transformed how the Disco drives. Who would have thought a new set of tyres would make such a difference. The old tyres weren t gripping so well so we tended to slow down more for bends but now it handles like a sports car (relatively speaking), and because you can take more speed into corners it powers through more smoothly making driving far more pleasant. The tyres are quiet, and if past experience is anything to go by, should last 70-80,000 kms. Should also mention that Bob Jane T-Marts did the best deal, which coupled with a free 3 month service and alignment check made a great deal even better.Read more

It is a truck and these are Perellis. Didn't seem to "gel." But they did great on our farm where we take the truck off road and up and down very slippery, muddy, snow-covered hills at times. Also over weeds, sticks, brush, etc. I had one puncture that was repaired. I recommend these tires.Read more

We don't do any serious 4wdriving mainly just sand and have only been off road on them a hand full of times. On our last trip to Moreton Island the tread on the front two tyres have worn down on both inside and outside edges [about 2cms on each side of the tyre tread] of the tread and now have to get new ones. we were advised by our mechanic that when the tyres have been at low pressure for sand driving [we only had at 18psi as had been raining before we went so no real overly soft sand] they have concaved internally so only running on the outside edge of the tyres. Due to the increased weight on just the outside edges they have worn down over just a 4 day period. Haven't had this happen with any other brands that we have had in the past. We are left with the choice of getting two more of the same for just the front or replacing all 4 with another brand.Read moreSimilar opinion? Write a review!

I took them back to the retailer twice to try and get them balanced. Ended up replacing them with Michelins. The rear pair soon began to get excessive wear to the centres of the tread pattern. I was running them at 4lbs when warm, over the recommended pressure. By the the time they were half worn the road noise had me believing a bearing had failed. I contacted Pirelli, and was asked by them to take them to a particular tyre dealer to have a look at them. The dealer gave the vehicle a wheel alignment. The left hand rear wheel was 3 degrees out. I heard nothing more. I threw the tyres away and fitted Michelins. I ran Land Rovers for decades on Michelins, got fantastic milage and no road noise. These Pirellis are supposed to be developed by Pirelli with input by Mercedes. They are too soft and lack structural support to hold the tyre shape. They are useless on dirt roads as they easily puncture and they are noisy.Read moreSimilar opinion? Write a review!

I travel to work once a week 300kms on country roads with about 50k of that on unsealed road. After about 4000k the wall of the rear tyre bulged and burst without warning. As in other comments here this seems to be rather common. I went back to Jax where I live but their store has closed down. I Emailed Jax head office, They replied that I will soon be contacted. The Coopers rubbed a bit at full turn lock (stock size is 225/70r/15, so these are one size bigger), but the Pirellis don't. Very quiet ride. Great on wet and dry paved roads, dirt roads, and beach sand. I haven't had to reduce tyre pressure for beach sand, and often did with the Coopers. Not as good as the Coopers for Rocks and heavy 4x4 use, but that's not what the Pirellis are designed for either. After 20,000kms I see no wear at all on them (95% paved roads, 5% sand and graded roads). I got 70,000kms from the Coopers. The Pirellis look like they'll go a bit further. Very happy with the purchase and would recommend them for Jeeps which spend most time on paved roads or beach sand.I purchased these online from Tempe Tyre. They were $70 apiece cheaper than the Coopers (purchased in 2004) and also $60 cheaper than the local shops after shipping. Cost $60 to have them mounted and balanced locally. Still saved $180 from buying locally.Read more

Plus there are the weekend trips, mostly camping and fishing. I have not modified the cruiser, nor go rock climbing or really challenge the car in harsh environments. Just travel along roads, some gravel and sand, and the odd corrugated surface.I am not a tyre expert and I can understand the confusion when assessing and reviewing tyres. For every positive review there seems to be a sharply opposite negative review. That applies for every brand and every tyre. The guys at tyre shops always have their own favourites and maybe have a financial incentive to recommend one tyre over another. I can only tell you about the 3 brands I have used. The Dunlop Grandtreks that were originally on the car got to around 45kms, so were replaced within the first year I owned the car, The tyres themselves seemed to handle all the conditions fine. There were no quality issues, no failures etc... At the time, I had no point of reference and could not tell you if their behaviour was good, great or terrible. It was what I was accustomed to.I replaced them with BFG ATR KO. Why? I liked the tread, and lots of 4WD websites talked about them. They were a little more expensive. Firstly, under the same driving conditions, they were noisier. But they seemed to handle the gravel roads a little better. Noticed this when cornering. In the wet I did have to be a lot more alert. On soaked tarmac, the BFGs probably didn't grip as well as the Dunlops. Mileage - about the same. Replaced after 55Ks.So I bought the Pirelli Scorpions ATR. Why, the reviews seemed reasonable. The tyre was not aimed at the hardcore 4WD enthusiasts and did note its limitations in handling the "rough stuff". The verdict - Quiet tyre and absorbs the bumps a little better than both the Dunlops and BFG. Surprised because the tread is very All Terrain-ish and not a Highway or Road pattern. Handling is better, I don't have to fight as much taking a turn, especially in slippery conditions. Handles slippery boat ramps, gravel and dirt and wet paddocks. It might just be my imagination, but the new shoes feel more stable. Mileage - already at 50K and I think there might be a few more kms left. Biggest surprise is the Price. Given that I bought them for $45 less per tyre than the BFG, I think the next tyres will be the Pirelli's again. Like most things, you can negotiate on the final price. Its not an expert's review, just an opinion.Read more

More to the point living in QLD time is spent on tarmac, dirt roads and at weekend on sand - the tyres coped well with all. Very quite too, which is what I wanted. The tyre shop suggested one size larger then was fitted to my RAV and what a transformation. I now have a Nissan Navara D40 and swapped the Goodyear's for a 'one size up' Pirelli Scorpion ATR fit all round. Again excellent on the Nissan, great ride, quiet and enough grip for my personal off-road needs (not extreme) - not saying they are the best, but just works for me and am yet to try a better all round tyre. But like most things choice is personal and everyone has their personal best.Read more

The original Goodyear Eagle RSA tyres were great on road but I needed better off road grip when I was pulling the horse float in the paddock. I wanted a hybrid tyre that would work well in both situations, and I certainly didn't need a full-on 4WD block tread. The Pirelli Scorpion ATR is proving to be a great choice. The grip I'm getting, even on wet grass, means I never get stuck, even with a fully loaded horse float. On road the grip still feels very good, although at first it made the steering feel a bit loose, but I soon got used to that. The one enduring issue is that if I push hard through corners, the ESC activates. I didn't have the same issue when I pushed the Goodyears like that. It doesn't worry me, but it is a point of difference.I've only done 20,000 km so far so I can't say how long they will last, but the wear looks like only 25% worn so I'm expecting them to last well.Read more

The true value of tyres is the safety - the situations it can get you out of. These Pirelli's can reduce the stopping distance from 100km/h by as much as 4 metres when compared to the likes of Coopers and Mickey T's. They also corner better and are significantly quieter. So unless you never drive on a bitumen public road, these are by far the safest tyre on the market right now. If you then take them off road, they perform in the top 3 of all disciplines (gravel, sand, mud, clay, etc), and actually win a couple as well.So unless you have the ability to fit a different set of tyres when your journey encounters sand, then a different set when you come across some mud, then a different set when you come across some gravel, then surely the best all round tyre makes the most sense. The argument about mileage is borderline ridiculous, as your wear will depend on so many variables of vehicle type, driving style, driving surfaces (local bitumen roads can all by quite different) town or country, city, tyre maintenance, ambient temperatures, etc. That being said, we all need some form of comparison so you can use the Treadwear Rating if the tyre is marketed in the USA.This is as close to a standard wear test you will get, so it can show which tyre may last longer. Cooper AT claim up to 90k, whereas the Scorpion ATR claims up to 70k. Shop around to get the best prices, then divide that by the claimed mileage. You will then see what the tyre costs per kilometre. I did this to work out that the Cooper's would have saved me about 1 cent per kilometre (and the Cooper warranty is not worth the paper it is written on) - so between hearing several reports of Cooper's failing (mostly sidewall or bead) and the far superior all-round performance of the Pirelli's - that was an easy 1 cent per kilometre to spend. They are super quiet, super sticky, and great off road.Read more

A friend of mine has a Disco on BGF ATR and he has gone through 2 sets and is looking at a third, and has done a little less mileage than me. Very quiet on the road with no lost of grip in the wet. Off road and on the beach never lost traction never had wheel spin.Cant buy this size tire in Australia any more, so I have had to order them from the States which as a bonus is saving me at least $300 so all is good.Read more

I have only rotated them once and rarely check pressures. Basically I haven't looked after them. Despite my laziness I have got 85000km out of these tyres. The front need replacing while the rear still have a bit of life. These tyres are quiet on the road and handle both wet and dry with ease. Off road they are no muddy, but perform well beyond expectation. Previously I was running Maxis all terrain pattern and desert duellers. I would back these tyres over the others any time.Read more

The Pirelli Scorpions on our Disco 3 had already done 55,000km when we started and had at least one-third tread depth remaining. The tyres perform well in all conditions and even in deep mud or on steep gravel tracks there is no wheel spin or slippage. Part of the credit for that may lie with the Disco's clever traction control devices but the tyres gave the impression that they were always there and quietly getting on with the business. Unfortunately, we lost two to hidden stakes and the only replacements available from Bob Jane in Woollongong were Geolanders, which have proven to be honest but unexciting.Read more

Don't ask me how they compared as I did only 100m on the Dunlops, just straight to the tyre shop. The ATRs now have 80K on them, and are getting down a bit (maybe 5-10K before I need to replace them). They certainly gave me the super quiet-on road I wanted, (together with cruise control, they make long bitumen drives even relaxing). But the big suprise is how well they do off road. When newish, they pulled thru mud, a bit of a slither but kept going. No digging in on river crossings just drive across. and very little sliding on those ball-baring topped, off-camber smooth dirt tracks. 265x65x17 is a big tyre so there is good contact, no matter what tyre you choose, but these have beed really good. Looks like I;ll need to buy another set soon. I have been running them on road at 32psi back and front.Read more

These tyres were not cheap costing over $400ea but if they last the distance and continue to perform the way they do I will most certainly be purchasing a 2nd set. Keep in mind that this is not a serious off road tyre, it performs best on road and very well in gravel or dry conditions. If you are like me, and do the majority of your driving on road, this is a very good performer for such a task.Read more

I have been in deep mud where BF good ridges with chuncky tread even got stuck, these things kept moving. They stomp over the Bridgestone ATRs that came with my 4x4 as they have tons of grip when the road is wet! I feel 100% confident in these tyres and even though i looked at others with chunky treads like MT, BF's etc I will be purchasing these next time around as 90,000ks out of 4x4 tyres is incredible.Read more

I bought the Scorpions on the basis of recommendations byothers that they were quiet- and they most certainly were. Not the most aggressive AT tread pattern, certainly not as aggressive as the Cooper AT's I was replacing, but a very good compromise for quietness/grip/on and off road behavior. I sold the Paj having done 80,000k's on the tyres, and that was without rotating the spare into the mix. I'd expect the new owner to get another 20,000ks.Have a set for a Touareg, and they are probably quieter than the road tyres that it comes with as standard.Read more

Tyre longevity is a big sale item for me and they have mainly done highway driving and some beach work. Only got bogged once in really fine powdery sand but they still pulled me out in reverse so was really happy with their sand performance which I expected being a fairly highway trended AT tyre pattern. Driven once on very rocky off road and showed no signs of any chunks being taken out of them. So impressed I will buy another set when on sale.Read more

I insisted on them, even after checking out the DD697s.Old set are just becoming non-legal, but still driving as safe and super quiet as when new.Original set were replacements for a disastrous Coopers experiment - which only last one day.Like most folk, I do 95%+ on-road, and the off-road is mostly sand.I launch and retrieve a 2-ton 6.5M boat into surf with little problem if you do the right things.Feel absolutely safe on them in city as well as long trips to Esperance region.Very positive steering - even with the boat at 110kph.My LC100 drives like a limmo and I regularly get comments from passengers on how quite it is.Never had a problem in the wet or any other conditions.Very happy with the price too - $270 F&B (Perth- Wanneroo).Read more

But as yet no one has.I think overall these tyres are ok but not as good as other brands and their not exactly cheap. After sales is poor.Update: Have done 40000K on these tires without any further issues. Happy with wear so far.Update: Have now done 72000K with no issues.Read more

They were OK at the start but turned dangerous especially in the wet. I had no traction via the back unless I had a load. Came across the Pirelli Scorpion ATR's and read some great reviews which gave them a big wrap. Wow, what a change, they are quiet, they steer perfectly and the traction was the best I'd had, so I expected they wouldn't wear too well. Wrong, my Lux has done 240K now and I'm on my second set. Never had a puncture, maybe I'm lucky but I know my tyres and these are good, Cheaper than you think if you ring around.Read more

Whilst the ATR is a good tyre when the walls go they let go quickly. Can not get a replacement tyre anywhere, so forced use a random make for the next 8 weeks (not good for caravanning).
Jeep Cherokee with 235/75/15 I'd come from Cooper ATR of the same size to these.

These tyres were not cheap costing over $400ea but if they last the distance and continue to perform the way they do I will most certainly be purchasing a 2nd set. Keep in mind that this is not a serious off road tyre, it performs best on road and very well in gravel or dry conditions.
