Initially, they were great although handling in all sorts of conditions is been excellent. At ~20K the noise started. Now at 35K, with probably 10K left on the tread, the noise is intolerable. I think the wear rate is OK. We live in country SA in a small town so the car only comes out for longer trips on open roads. A short trip for us is ~80K I m looking for alternatives.Read moreSimilar opinion? Write a review!

I bought 4 new Dunlop Sport Max 215/45r/17 tyres @ $220 each after reading a review on how good a performance tyre they were. I never felt confident on them. They didn t seem to grip well going round corners in the dry let alone in the wet, hence I needed to slow down appreciably in the wet. When they finally wore out (which while they lasted 60,000 k s, couldn t come quick enough) I changed to Bridgestone Potenza Adrenalin RE002 tyres which cost just $200 each. The difference is like chalk and cheese! The RE002s are a massive improvement over the Dunlops, massive. I was raving about them to anyone who would listen, how they were cheaper than the Dunlops, how much gripper in all conditions they are - just unbelievable compared to the Dunlops; they should buy some! And I got 55,000 k s out of them to add to the good news on the performance. Needless to say when I recently replaced the Bridgestone s I just bought them again, no question, no research required. The new set of RE002 s is just as good. And the kicker? The RE 002 s at changeover cost me less than the Dunlops each time.Read more

My previous tyres - just standard ones I can t recall what they were, I could not even use half the cars potential from standstill I would just end up doing a dirty big skid. Well I slapped two of these onto the rear, 19inch, and the improvement was amazing. I can use every bit of power that car has from standstill now with minimal wheelspin, I m no longer scared to put the pedal to the metal. Can t really comment on NOISE as all I can hear is my engine, nor wear as I just bought them. I have a BMW 325i and The previous tyres compared to my 4 new RE002s are night and day. I m an enthusiastic driver and take advantage of the 3 series perfect 50/50 weight distribution with drive going to the back. Before I would get a hint of understeer if I entered a roundabout a bit too fast or took a turn in the wet with the speed of a dry road. When pulling off in the wet with moderate acceleration the back tyres would often light up the ASC (traction) light warning of slip and I would feel the traction control braking the affected wheel robbing me of power. This resulted in the ASC being completely disabled. Normally this would be a no brainer for a clar nut but being an open diff and no LSD it s not fun at all, just an awkward skid on one side. In corners in the wet doing 80/90kph the ASC would kick in. After getting all 4 tyres replaced with the RE002s it s as if I ve got a new car almost. The grip in dry and wet is excellent, less roll in corners, no more loss of traction in the wet even under full acceleration feom a standing start. They just stick. I can enter roundabouts slightly faster than normal with complete confidence. Taking corners at speed is now exciting. Where I live is a 9km winding stretch of road from the nearest suburb out in the hills. I always enjoy the drive when there s no other cars. Doing no less than 90kph the whole way when normally you d average 65/70. These tyres are amazing. I get to drive many different types of vehicles for work all with different tyres (usually cheap eco tyres with brands that could ve been made with a scrabble board). Definitely recommended for someone who enjoys driving and who wants to enjoy the full capabilities of their car on the road.Read more

I got all 4 put on new rims after having the skinny stock tyres. They have lasted for 3years and just over 60K and only just getting to the point that I need to shop for new ones. Only had a wheel alignment when I got them, so it is surprising that they have lasted this long. Always keep tyre pressure checked every 2 weeks. I prefer 36psi over the recommended 32psi. It gives me a sharper ride and I don t feel the lag in the corners like I do with the lower pressure. They are amazing in both wet and dry. Sticky as hell in both conditions that I tend to take corners at a quicker speed with 100% confidence in the tyres, and they have not let me down once with this. They are sports tyres so they are softer and they are not meant to last as long or give you as good economy or be super quiet with road noise, BUT I am very pleased that with my car they have lasted for so long, my hwy economy is 6.7-7.3L/100 with aircon on, and road noise is not out of the ordinary (quiet enough to have a conversation. Having said that it depends a lot on your car construction vs tyres, my car is going to be noisier than my brothers 2008 Honda Accord Euro that is running the same tyres) I have owned Maxxis, yokis & supercats (never ever, ever again supercat) in the past and this is the first sports tyres I ve had on any of my cars and it s well worth the money I spent. These RE002s have been the best tyres I ve owned, the cheapest I ve every bought tyres for ($125ea) and the longest lasting I ve had by a long mile. Highly recommended. especially for a FWD medium carRead more

That s not a lot of km for me, so I m a bit disappointed. I could ve squeezed out another couple of thousand km, but the mechanic who fixed a flat for me said they were almost unroadworthy. I got nearly 35,000km out of the Continental Contact Sport 3s which were my previous tyres. I had theRE002s aligned when I bought them (obviously), and again for a 2nd time after about 10,000km. I also used the correct pressure, and checked it regularly. Ok, some of you might be wondering why I m complaining about the wear of performance tyres, and that s fair enough. Perhaps I didn t do enough research, but I was of the understanding that they are a mid/high-rung performance tyre -- similar to the Contact Sports -- not an all-out performance, right? Apart from that, they were a very good price: for memory, they were on special for about $190 each. The grip was great in the dry, but I never drive hard enough in the wet to test the wet grip. The road feel was good; they are perhaps a little softer than the Conti Contact Sport 3s. I never noticed any road noise, but I suppose a 2003 Ford Falcon is hardly a smooth and quiet limousine. :-) Overall, they‰Ûªre a good performance tyre for the price, but they‰Ûªre not for me because they wear too fast. The bottom line is that I won‰Ûªt buy them again, unless they‰Ûªre crazy cheap. Oh yeah, I ve just noticed they ve been superseded by the RE003; is that because of the ordinary wear? :-)Read moreSimilar opinion? Write a review!

I ve done 15k kms with it, 40% of the time on state highways. Great road feedback and cornering. It can be a bit hard on bumps. A 205/50 profile would probably be better or it might be my suspension. The tire tends to slip slightly on wet roads on speeds above 90kph especially when you drive on a section of the road that has a collection of water (long streak, not puddle). I can only compare it to Yokohama on my car though as I ve got Goodyear Eagle F1 D5s as well but they re on an SUV. Last fitness check had about 5mm of tread (14k kms done).Read more

I only have them on a Pulsar (Daily Driver) and I actually feel a tad unsafe driving with them. They seem to grab to the point of taking over the steering wheel at times, kind of a similar feeling of driving in ruts in a 4WD. This is typically when they are slipping away driving on dry bitument (a Pulsar does not have much power, so don t know how those using on a a car with more ponnies can stand them) and then grab and throw the car about a bit, I drive very careful in the wet as I just don t trust them. Through regular rotation and pressure checks I managed to get 3 years and 45,000km of use out of them, far more than what I was expecting. The only problem I had with them was the initial purchase price; only one store in my town stocked them and as such they charged me $1400 with fitting, balancing and a front/rear wheel alignment. Grip, however, has been outstanding in all conditions throughout the tread wear. Even at 40% they still stuck like **** to the proverbial blanket. Inspires a lot of confidence and works well with the all-wheel-drive system. You have to be driving far harder than necessary to get it to understeer. As they wore down though some tramlining became present. Wet performance was not as impressive as tyres more designed for such conditions like the Toyo Proxes4, but by no means were the RE002s dangerous, far from it. Great wet performance for a summer tyre. On the whole the initial purchase price was the only drawback, and to be fair 225/40 is not the most popular 18 tyre size and it would have paid to shop around more, online for an example - but then the problem would have been getting a tyre store in my town to fit them. Despite this though I was more than stoked with the Bridgestones, and would certainly buy the new RE003s based on my experience with these tyres.Read more

I am talking about superior in pretty much every single way - road noise, comfort, grip, braking and handling. Treadwear rating seems low, but I ve now done about 20,000 Kms in them and they still have more than 60% tread left. This surprised me as I didn t expect them to last that long. Tested in both dry and wet and they are great. They have now been superseded by the RE003 and I would definitely buy them to replace the RE002s. What a great bang for buck performance tyre!Read more

These are a performance tyre...no two ways about it..they were built with ultimate performance and road holding as their primary purpose in life. They do that very well...So if you are a performance tyre kind of person then you will love these tyres, as you have got to really really REALLY try hard to unstick these tyres...doubling the speed limit through a corner will do this...then they might squeal a bit but still not lose traction. Thy are one of the great performance tyres that Bridgestone ever made. BUT.......and there is a but...these tyres get their great road holding through being a soft compound tyre. Fantastic for grip.....not so good for long life...These were on my car when I bought it and I would estimate that the tyres had about 80% of the tread remaining at that point. Thought to myself there s a few good years (no pun intended) in those!!! Um...not so much...17,000kms later and they are dead....worse than just having no tread left they have radial cracking on the sidewalls of two of the tyres. 5-10cm cracks that follow the shape of the tyre. Crikey...lucked out there... Now my driving style is on the quick through corners and hang on for dear life...and for that these tyres are ideally suited. If you drove them gently, with good tyre rotation, alignments and taking car of them they are a very safe tyre that MAY last you a good amount of time. It s possible but not so probable... PRO s - they hang on through a corner like no other tyre I have owned...most people will run out of brave pills before the tyres give up...that s in the dry and the wet. They are very very good in the wet. They are a very safe tyre which will make your car feel inherently safer. Braking distances are very short and they stop well in all conditions CON s - if you are aggressive or do a few track days....they are definitely up for it...but you ll be lucky to see 25-30k out of a set. There is a lot of people who average 25k a year...most people do not want to buy a set of tyres per year. The other thing is as they have worn they have gotten more than a bit noisy. On smooth blacktop it s no big deal...but get onto the coarse stone type of road that is very common in Oz, they do make a bit of a racket. I drive on a 235 40 18 with relatively small sidewalls and one way they get such excellent road holding is with very stiff sidewalls. There is no flex at all which really aids in staying stuck. This is a double edged blade but and it means that the ride comfort is a very VERY FIRM RIDE!!! Because there is small sidewalls without much flex, you ll feel every bump, ripple strip and undulation. This may be better with a less low profile tyre but in the 40 profile....they rattle your fillings loose...price you pay for 40 profile tyres...This is either a concern or not...most people looking for ultimate road holding don t generally care AT ALL about how comfortable the tyre is... So as per my title: Yes with a but: Yes these tyres have great road holding and stick like babysh*t to a blanket. BUT if you drive them hard they simply will not last....but if you are up for a set a year or its on a car you occasionally driven, they are very very good and if you can look past the comfort and noise levels, you will not be disappointed with their performance. No with a maybe: If you don t drive like your hair is on fire and you are a more sedate driver they probably will last a lot more and MAYBE these are the tyres for you. If the tyre you need is not too low of profile, say 60 or 65 profile then they won t be as uncomfortable and MAYBE they will be okay for you. If your car is really quiet and the tyre noise will not bother you too much MAYBE they could be for you...buy ultimately is doesn t make a lot of sense buying a performance tyre and driving it like your Grandma....so it is probably not for those looking for a compromise or a more comfortable and compliant tyre...They do have a tendency to tramline a bit as well which can catch you until you get to recognize the times when it s likely to happen...now all tyres do this, but in the 235 width I found them particularly prone to it...something to be alert to not alarmed to. Final words, a great tyre for those looking to get a mid priced performance tyre who can overlook some of its idiosyncrasys and be very happy with it s high limit grip and performance.Read more

I was quite happy with the bridgestone re050a oem tyres that were originally on my fiesta st as the handling in both dry and wet were fantastic apart from the road noise on coarse roads. I decided to give the re002 a go as it superceded the re050a and I liked the aggressive look of the tyres. I have done about 5000km now and with the tyres on the front axle and wear rate is good with about 6 to 7mm left. I always keep pressure up high to around 38psi. I have found the grip in the dry to be quite good but awful in the wet. I get wheel spin and loss of traction in 1st and second gear and my car understeer badly when taking corners. I m disappointed with these tyres as the re050a was far superior all round and gave me confidence in the wet. Its a shame as the general review for these tyres has been Positive. I m going to move to the the michelin pilot sport 3 as the reviews for these tyres are fantastic. Won t be buying bridgestone re002 again that s for sure.Read moreSimilar opinion? Write a review!
