It can happen gradually or suddenly \u2014 and once it\u2019s out, forcing the switch can <strong data-start=\"621\" data-end=\"690\">crack the glass, burn the regulator motor, or chew up the channel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"693\" data-end=\"914\">Quick model note: The <strong data-start=\"715\" data-end=\"762\">W176 A-Class\/A45 AMG was introduced in 2013<\/strong>, received a <strong data-start=\"775\" data-end=\"801\">major facelift in 2015<\/strong>, and ran through to <strong data-start=\"822\" data-end=\"830\">2018<\/strong> \u2014 and these window problems can show up across that whole range, including A45 AMG.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"916\" data-end=\"919\" \/>\n<h2 data-start=\"921\" data-end=\"969\">Common Symptoms (Rear Door Glass Popping Out)<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"971\" data-end=\"1074\">If your <strong data-start=\"979\" data-end=\"1029\">rear window has popped out of the back channel<\/strong>, you\u2019ll usually notice one or more of these:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1076\" data-end=\"1504\">\n<li data-start=\"1076\" data-end=\"1130\">\n<p data-start=\"1078\" data-end=\"1130\"><strong data-start=\"1078\" data-end=\"1106\">Glass tilts forward\/back<\/strong> as it goes up or down<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1131\" data-end=\"1181\">\n<p data-start=\"1133\" data-end=\"1181\"><strong data-start=\"1133\" data-end=\"1157\">Grinding \/ crunching<\/strong> noise inside the door<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1182\" data-end=\"1231\">\n<p data-start=\"1184\" data-end=\"1231\">Window goes up halfway then <strong data-start=\"1212\" data-end=\"1229\">jams or drops<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1232\" data-end=\"1289\">\n<p data-start=\"1234\" data-end=\"1289\">Glass rises unevenly (one side higher than the other)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1290\" data-end=\"1365\">\n<p data-start=\"1292\" data-end=\"1365\">Window closes but leaves a <strong data-start=\"1319\" data-end=\"1326\">gap<\/strong> at the top (wind noise \/ water leak)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1366\" data-end=\"1447\">\n<p data-start=\"1368\" data-end=\"1447\">You can see the glass <strong data-start=\"1390\" data-end=\"1426\">sitting outside the felt channel<\/strong> near the rear edge<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1448\" data-end=\"1504\">\n<p data-start=\"1450\" data-end=\"1504\">Switch works but you hear the motor strain (or clicks)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1506\" data-end=\"1633\">If you\u2019re hearing grinding, <strong data-start=\"1534\" data-end=\"1571\">stop using the switch immediately<\/strong> \u2014 that\u2019s how regulators get destroyed and glass and tint can be damaged.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"1635\" data-end=\"1638\" \/>\n<h2 data-start=\"1640\" data-end=\"1701\">Why the Rear Glass Pops Out of the Track (The Real Causes)<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1703\" data-end=\"1838\">On the W176 platform, rear <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autohero.com.au\/blog\/porsche-macan-window-regulator-failure-2014-2018-causes-symptoms-expert-repair\/\">window \u201cpopping out\u201d is usually caused<\/a> by <strong data-start=\"1772\" data-end=\"1788\">misalignment<\/strong> or a <strong data-start=\"1794\" data-end=\"1815\">worn guide system<\/strong>, not the glass itself.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1840\" data-end=\"1901\">1) Worn or loose rear window guide channel (back channel)<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1902\" data-end=\"2088\">The <strong data-start=\"1906\" data-end=\"1943\">rear channel lining (felt\/rubber)<\/strong> can compress, tear, or become loose. When that happens, the glass can\u2019t stay guided and starts to wander until it <strong data-start=\"2058\" data-end=\"2087\">climbs out of the channel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2090\" data-end=\"2137\">2) Regulator wear or bent arms\/cable issues<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2138\" data-end=\"2311\">If the regulator is worn, cables stretch, or the mechanism binds, the glass is pulled up at a slight angle. That angle is enough to <strong data-start=\"2270\" data-end=\"2310\">push the glass out of the back guide<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2313\" data-end=\"2347\">3) Loose glass clamp \/ carrier<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2348\" data-end=\"2488\">The glass is held to the regulator by a clamp or carrier. If that loosens, the glass shifts under load and will <strong data-start=\"2460\" data-end=\"2487\">walk out of the channel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2490\" data-end=\"2527\">4) Door impact or previous repair<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2528\" data-end=\"2614\">A door that\u2019s been slammed hard, bumped in a carpark, or previously repaired can have:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2615\" data-end=\"2748\">\n<li data-start=\"2615\" data-end=\"2649\">\n<p data-start=\"2617\" data-end=\"2649\">slightly bent inner door frame<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2650\" data-end=\"2675\">\n<p data-start=\"2652\" data-end=\"2675\">mispositioned channel<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2676\" data-end=\"2748\">\n<p data-start=\"2678\" data-end=\"2748\">missing\/loose fasteners<br data-start=\"2701\" data-end=\"2704\" \/>Result: the glass runs crooked and pops out.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 data-start=\"2750\" data-end=\"2801\">5) Dry, contaminated, or swollen channel rubber<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2802\" data-end=\"2933\">Dust, old lubricant, or swelling rubber creates drag.
