I hate that.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0~ Arnold Schwarzenegger<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>In advertising, if you\u2019re not different, you\u2019re dead in the water\u00a0and wherever else you\u2019re trying to get noticed.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Being the same as everyone else in your market makes you about as relevant as Myspace and Blockbuster videos.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why is it so many business owners struggle to differentiate themselves and stand out from the competition?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s a great question.<\/p>\n<p>And here\u2019s a great answer: people are copycats.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why do we humans copy each other?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You know, that &#8220;safety in numbers&#8221; thing they love to talk about?<\/p>\n<p>Look, that may well be true, but let\u2019s get REAL\u00a0for a moment:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why do business owners copy other businesses?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The real reason why business owners copy other businesses in their industry is that they lack the confidence to go it alone.<\/p>\n<p>They don\u2019t back themselves and play it so safe it&#8217;s dangerous to their profit.<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019re more timid than a hotel clerk serving Russell Crowe when it comes to trying new marketing.<\/p>\n<p>They see their quirks, foibles, and oddities as a weakness instead of a point of difference that can be exploited for profit.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Consider this<\/strong>: Arnold Schwarzenegger was told again and again by movie producers that he would never make it as a leading actor because he was too big (literally),\u00a0could barely speak English, and his name was too long.<\/p>\n<p>But you can\u2019t stop a man who has vision, determination, and who backs himself.<\/p>\n<p>And, as we all know now, Arnie\u2019s seeming \u201cweaknesses\u201d became his greatest strengths.<\/p>\n<p><strong>And that my friend, is half the battle.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Listen, if you don\u2019t stand out in your industry, you\u2019ll always struggle for attention. Thus, you won\u2019t get mentioned.
